Media Coverage of Home Oxygen Service

Though the stories further down the page are older we show a current one just below

Patient Mark left breathless after oxygen delays is from August 2007 and shows that Allied Respiratory still are having problems.

Other stories this year that shows how people were still falling through the gaps. Obviously when you get press coverage things may improve. But why should you?

A Terminally Ill patient in Epsom having supply problems.

Problems with oxygen supplies may threaten lives from the Camberley News and Mail from 31st January 2007.

After 6 months you would have hoped that things have improved however as we can see my experiences are not unique. • Patients with breathing difficulties have been confined to their homes because of delays delivering portable oxygen cylinders.
  • It is simply not good enough for pensioners with breathing difficulties to be confined to their homes because the company responsible for delivering oxygen supplies cannot cope with demand.
  • Health bosses have launched an investigation after patients complained they were confined to their homes because of delays delivering portable oxygen cylinders.
  • A man has told how he had to miss his sister's funeral because oxygen supplies were not delivered in time.
  • quotes the Health Secretary, Patricia Hewitt, as saying that she is aware of the problem and that her department is working to solve them

Then in other counties we have  stories that show how  widespread the problems were. Some stories are no longer on-line.

People who need home oxygen treatment are being forced to stay indoors because of a shortage of portable cylinders.

The constant hum of the machine that keeps Elinor Smith breathing is a reassurance for her and her family. Surrounded by plastic tubing, retired nurse Mrs Smith hasn't been able...

Cancer Patient Angry At Wait

Vital oxygen supplies for a Yeovil man who has difficulty breathing were not delivered for a week because of a change of supplier.

A sick pensioner has spoken of his distress at having to wait seven days for the delivery of vital oxygen supplies to allow him to leave his city home.

Potentially life-threatening delays in delivering oxygen to patients at home is having a 'profound' impact on the seriously ill and their carers, a Devon MP has warned.

A desperately ill two-year-old girl had to wait days for vital oxygen supplies because of a crisis in the new home delivery service, MPs have been told.
